UPDATE: One hurt in Wednesday night fire at Greene County farm

UPDATE (WNCT) — One person was transported to a local hospital suffering from minor injuries, according to a Facebook post from the Snow Hill Rural Fire Department.

The fire broke out just before 9 p.m. Wednesday night. Officials describe the structure that burned as a commercial hay barn.

Units from several department remained on scene overnight for hot spots.

SNOW HILL, N.C. (WNCT) — Firefighters are battling a structure fire at a farm off Highway 58 North between Stantonsburg and Snow Hill.

Greene County Fire Department officials said it is at Dawson Farms near Harper Road. Snow Hill Fire Department officials said it was a hay barn that caught fire.

Firefighters fought the fire from the ground and there was also aerial assistance. They said one person was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

It is unknown at this time what caused the fire and crews will remain on scene throughout the night.
