Local law firm gives away backpacks for the fifth year in a row

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WNCT) — The Wayne Hardee Law Backpack Giveaway is Friday, Aug. 16, from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

They’ll be handing the backpacks out at Beaufort County Community College. They have more than 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to give away. This is the fifth year they’ve been doing this, giving away more than roughly 9,000 bookbags in total.

“Just a small way to give back to the community that was full-time school year. It’s a big need for book bags. It’s amazing,” Attorney Wayne Hardee said. “We’re amazed every year at the needs there are for children in our area and joining. So we’re glad to have Beaufort County again this year. And, you know, so we serve that, serve all the East, so this is just a small way for us and our team to give back to a community that’s been so great to us.”

The team at Wayne Hardee Law buys the backpacks themselves and will be giving away another 2,000 backpacks in Greenville.
