NEWPORT, N.C. (WNCT) — Broad Creek Middle School students are heading back to school with some upgrades.

The school has a new eighth-grade wing that’s filled with new classrooms, an art room, science labs, a cafeteria expansion and new turf in the courtyard. They started the project as soon as school was out for the summer. Now, with just a few finishing touches, Principal Jenny Bell said they’re eager to welcome everyone back.

“I’m excited about the new wing, but I’m also excited about the space that this new wing has created to do some other things like Science Labs, A Tree of Life Cafe, just some other areas for us to be able to look forward to,” Bell said.

The first day of school will be Aug. 26th.
