TARBORO, N.C. (WNCT) — Multiple high school football teams were trying to put a bow on the offseason by taking part in jamborees Friday night.

In Tarboro, the Vikings hosted teams including J.H. Rose and North Pitt among others. “I thought defensively, we looked really really good. We had a couple missed communications but other than that, I thought the run defense was stout,” Tarboro Head Coach Jeff Craddock said.

“Very pleased. For a whole, I think the team did a good job, we got a lot to work with on film, evaluate some plays and get ready for the first game against New Hanover,” J.H. Rose Head Coach Will Bland said.

In Farmville, the Jaguars of Farmville Central hosted several teams including White Oak. “It’s huge for us because we get to see live action against competition where it’s no ‘buddy buddy’ or anything and we try to go as hard as we can in practice but it’s never the same as going against competition,” Farmville Central Head Coach Ron Cook said.

“It’s a big deal because you see a lot of different things you don’t really see in practice,” White Oak Head Coach Jonathan Byrd said.
