JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Live fire training happens at Camp Lejeune every couple of months.

It’s a realistic environment to train Marines for combat. Their mission is to locate, get close and destroy the enemy. They’re making sure they’re good at working at a squad level and as a rifleman before working with more people.

While it’s routine, this time, there’s more force going in on the objective that makes it as realistic to a combat zone as possible. This is so the company can make sure the squad can actually conduct attacks. The morale overall was pretty high after the first couple of runs.

“I thought it went great. I had a good time. I thought they killed it. I’m really proud of my boys, my team leaders like Corporal Green,” Squad Leader John Michael Lopez said.

“The Marines are working really hard. They’re doing great work out here, really slaying away at these training objectives, putting out,” Weapons Platoon Commander Nicholas Campbell said. “And they’re definitely getting better at the things that they need to be better at.”
