GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A study done by Visit North Carolina, a unit of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, shows visitor spending in Pitt County was more than $300,000,000 in 2023.

They said this is a record for Pitt County spending, but that there wasn’t one huge aspect that caused this increase, but rather everyone working together. President and CEO of Visit Greenville Andrew Schmidt said that Pitt County has increasing amenities, more restaurants, more retail, which means more reasons for people to stay longer.

“The spending reflects all our different markets kind of hitting on on all cylinders. Our conventions and meetings market is doing really well right now,” Schmidt said. “Sports tourism is doing well. Outdoor recreation. We’ve had increase in family reunions. Our arts and cultural assets are increasing. And basically, all of our hospitality assets are increasing to every Olympic county. So all those add up to increased numbers.”
