JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Onslow County law enforcement is cracking down on underage vaping.

The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the Jacksonville Office of Community Prevention and said they found 23 vape and tobacco stores selling to minors without asking for their identification.

An undercover operation was put in place during July. “We will keep checking establishments and, you know, you have the vape shops in town, tobacco shops, but a lot of retail stores sell vape products,” Onslow County Sheriff Chris Thomas said. “Well, some of the regular gas stations sell vape products, grocery stores, we’re going to be checking all those locations. And we just want everyone to know, check your I.D., make sure they’re old enough. Then it’s legal to sell to them, you can sell to them.”

Why is almost every vape shop in Jacksonville owned and operated by immigrants? How are they being funded and approved so quickly to establish in certain areas?
