Former Pirate football WR Proehl back in Greenville ahead of season opener

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — ECU football fans likely remember the name Blake Proehl as he was a wide receiver for the Pirates.

This year, Proehl was most notably known for his appearance on “American Idol.” He was back in Greenville this week and will be stopping by Pirate Radio’s Kick Off Party Thursday.

“It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been back here and me and my friend just got in town and it was like just chills because there’s so many, you know, good relationships and memories here, honestly, especially right here in the stadium,” Proehl said. “So, I’m excited for them to get kicked off this weekend.”

Since his time on the singing competition show, Proehl has been making some new music. He’ll be debuting a new single called “Crazy Stupid Love” at the kick off party.
