GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Several high school football teams across Eastern NC took to the fields a day earlier than customary this week, playing some Thursday night football.

J.H. Rose was one of those teams, looking to shake off a week one loss at New Hanover. The Rampants hit the road again to take on Northeastern in Elizabeth City.

Rose was down big 33-14 in the third quarter but fought back to tie the game late at 40-all before falling 47-40, dropping to 0-2 on the year.

Tarboro took on Hertford County and took home the victory in shutout fashion, 48-0.

Farmville Central matched up against North Lenoir and the Jaguars were victorious 29-6. Ayden-Grifton was also in action, taking on Martin County. The Gators would get the win in this one, 40-21.

North Duplin picked up a Thursday night win, 21-7 over Northside Pinetown and Edenton Holmes defeated Bertie 22-16.
