North Topsail Beach prepares for big crowd on Labor Day

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — As Labor Day approaches, people from across the country are preparing to get one last beach day or summer trip in before fall time rolls in.

Beaches in Eastern North Carolina are one of many beaches along the coast that people are going to be flocking to this weekend. Onslow County Tourism says that they’re expecting big crowds. They say the weekend is all about relaxation, but they also want people to explore all that Onslow County has to offer.

They’re encouraging people to get out in the water whether that’s through fishing, kayaking or just tanning on the beach. Now, they’ve been preparing with local officials to make the weekend great, but they want to make sure that you follow the rules and respect the local wildlife. Their man concern is protecting sea turtles coming onto the beach.

“It is still nesting season, so just please be sure to pick up your beach chairs and fill in your holes afterwards just so those sea turtles can come up at night,” said Salem Clarke, Onslow County Tourism Director.

North Topsail Beach is nationally recognized as a go to beach weekend spot. If you plan on coming down, leave your house early to get a good spot. One of the big Labor Day events happening near the area is Holly Ridge’s Liberty Festival on Saturday night where there will be fireworks, food and fun for all.
