JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The city of Jacksonville now has a breakfast spot owned by locals as Eggs Up Grill had its grand opening early Tuesday at Gum Branch Crossing.

The ownership team has roots to the city whether it’s through being in the Marines or working for the school district.

The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. Owner Estrella Rogers said it is different from other restaurants because of how warm and welcoming it is.

The food choices contain signature omelettes and grilled blueberry muffins among others. “I mean, we have people who ride their bikes up here today. Like, how beautiful is that?,” Rogers said. “People walk from the neighborhood. So, just I don’t know, I just, I’m just excited about being able to give back to our community and the things that we’re going to do here.”

I’m excited to try this, but I have to say that a franchise is not technically “locally owned.” Locally owned means a business that is owned 100% by a local person that lives in the town and doesn’t answer to a corporation.
