JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Delta Airlines is adding a third flight out of Ellis Airport.

Right now they only have two flights with the added one starting back on Monday. Delta flights currently only fly to Atlanta. Delta hasn’t had three flights out of Ellis since 2021.

Director Mitch Sprunger hopes that the airport’s Ongoing Runway Expansion project will eventually allow them to fly to more cities like Minneapolis or Detroit. For now, he’s hoping the market responds to the new seats in Atlanta.

“It’s more seat offerings, it’s more opportunities to get out to all your destinations. And really for us, I mean, we view the airport as an economic development engine. So the more seats and flights we have, the better it is for Onslow County and our region,” said Sprunger.

Delta will be adding a fourth flight to Atlanta in November, just in time for the holidays.
