ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Onslow County Animal Services is working to get pets into loving homes.

They are one of many shelters joining in on the “Clear the Shelters” campaign. The event will take place Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. During that time, all pet adoptions will be free, limiting it to one pet per person. Puppies under six months are not included. They have around 35 dogs and 40 cats available for adoption.

Some other vendors are going to be there too such as Adoption First, Paws of Purpose and Jaded Paws.

“I’ve got a waitlist of people that are trying to surrender their animals for numerous reasons. So this will help some of them get in to save more lives. And it’ll also help more of the strays but are out there getting more lives as well,” Animal Specialist and Event Coordinator Dani Cooke said.

They will continue to have discounted adoption rates until Sept. 10. Dogs over six months will cost $80 and cats will be $60.
