NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) – One person died and at least one other person was injured in a multi-vehicle, midday wreck Saturday in New Bern.

According to New Bern Police, the wreck happened around 11 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of South Glenburnie and Elizabeth Avenue.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on Glenburnie Road when the vehicle abruptly went left of center,” a news release from NBPD stated.

“The Chevrolet was struck by a 2000 Ford Super Duty truck which was traveling south on Glenburnie Road. A secondary collision occurred between the truck and a 2015 Toyota Highlander.”

The Toyota Highlander flipped over as a result of the collision.

Police said Clifford Oliver, 90, of New Bern died at Carolina East Medical Center as a result of his injuries. Oliver was the driver of the Equinox, police said. The driver of the Highlander was taken to the hospital, as well.

New Bern Police continued their investigation into the wreck.
