JONES COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — On early Saturday morning, a Jones County Deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle exceeding the speed limit, leading to a high speed chase.

The motorcycle was traveling over 100 mph in a 60 mph zone on US-17, traveling south. Before the driver could be pulled over by the Deputy, the driver lost control in a curve, traveled across a grass median and into the northbound lane of US-17.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as 23-year-old Camron Patrick Joseph Stevens of Jacksonville, N.C.
