Havelock woman dies after being hit by vehicle over weekend

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WNCT) — Havelock Police and Fire/EMS responded to a motor vehicle crash Saturday night at the intersection of W. Main Street and S. Jackson Dr.

It happened at 7:44 p.m. and upon arriving, officers found Julianna Walschek, 24, suffering from critical injuries. Walschek was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center where she later died.

An investigation found that Walschek was crossing the street when a vehicle hit her. The driver and multiple witnesses stopped and called 911 to get medical help to Walschek.

The driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with the investigation, according to police. It is still under investigation by the Havelock PD and N.C. State Highway Patrol.
