DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — All lanes on Interstate 85 North shut down on Monday afternoon as a result of a bus fire, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

The vehicle fire occurred at Mile Marker 102 between Lake Road and Kendall Mill Road.

Video from the scene shows a bus with heavy flames coming out of it pulled over on the side of the highway.

    Aftermath of the fire

Fire crews were at the scene fighting the blaze with hoses.

The Thomasville Fire Department says they responded to the fire at around 12:03 p.m. on Monday.

Firefighters say a large bus that was being towed by a wrecker caught on fire.

The fuel tanks of the bus overheated as gas was being released which is believed to have caused the flames to expand.

The cause of the fire itself remains under investigation.

No one was on the bus and no one was injured in the blaze which is now under control.

A single lane of traffic has since opened on I-85.

    This is a developing story.
