GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — During a meeting on Monday night, the Greenville City Council approved an agreement to sell a property located at 2815 East 10th Street and 0 East Fifth Street.

The property was previously home of the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles and the State Highway Patrol. It is made up of about 2.0453 acres and zoned commercial.

The city owns 83% of the property while the remaining 17% belongs to the county. The city and county no longer have use for the property as the building and site are in poor condition.

According to the appraisal, most of the property’s value is in the land and the best use would be redevelopment. The sale would allow the property to go back on the tax roll and allow for redevelopment.

The city will begin the bid process with a minimum bid of $1,923,635.
