WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WNCT) –In Martin County, the school district is seeing historic growth from last year into this year.

Representatives with the district said they’re seeing growth in school size and academic success at every school in the system.

The district has been on the rise and are celebrating a few things from this past school year like none of the schools receiving an F grade. Wednesday was Ice Cream Day at Riverside Middle School to celebrate the teachers.

“It’s been amazing, the kids want to learn, they want to be here, they want to do well,” Riverside Middle School teacher Ms. Landon Leggett said. “So, that’s been really exciting to see.”

“All of our K-8 schools met growth as measured by the North Carolina Accountability System,” Martin County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle White said. “This is the first time that’s ever happened since this accountability model was released.”
