    Gas leak resolved at Jacksonville shopping center

    UPDATE (WNCT) — At 10:49 a.m., Jacksonville Public Safety shared that there is no longer a threat to the Piney Green Shopping Center or surrounding areas. Evacuations have been lifted.

    JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Jacksonville Public Safety shared that shops and restaurants at the Piney Green Shopping Center have been evacuated due to a gas leak in the area. The leak was found at the front of the shopping center near HWY 24.

    Piedmont Gas is on the way to make repairs and people are asked to stay away from the area so the leak can be repaired. There are currently no road closures or detours.
