Wanted man arrested after K9, drone search in Tyrrell County

COLUMBIA, N.C. (WNCT) — A Columbia man was arrested Thursday when multiple law enforcement officers chased him into woods.

Law enforcement had multiple warrants out on Xavier Spencer. K9 Officers were utilized to assist in the search for Spencer after he ran into the woods. A drone from Hyde County was also used.

At 1:05 p.m., Spencer was found by the drone in Columbia at a camper trailer on Scottsville Street. Spencer was taken into custody there and taken to the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Office to be booked.

Spencer has numerous charges from several counties and is a probation absconder. During the search, Columbia High School and Columbia Middle School, as well as, Tyrrell Elementary School were put on lockdown.
