Change of Command Ceremony at Fleet Readiness Center East

HAVELOCK, N.C. (WNCT) — A Change of Command Ceremony took place Thursday at Cherry Point’s Fleet Readiness Center East.

The center does different types of maintenance on aircraft and jets for the Marine Corps and Navy. Captain Randy Berti is taking over for Capt. James Belmont as Belmont is retiring after 30 years of service.

Capt. Belmont started leading the FRC East in 2022. Prior to that, he was the depot’s second in command. Capt. Belmont was given letters from leaders like former President Donald Trump and Governor Roy Cooper.

“We’re going to take each day, day-by-day, and look for opportunities to be better stewards of the taxpayers dollars and more efficient and effective in the missions that we provide support for,” Capt. Berti said.

Capt. Berti is also grateful for the community off the base for how appreciative they’ve been of their service.
