JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — After one year of investigating 36-year-old Christopher McKinnon’s death , the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two men.

On August 28, 2024, McKinnon was found dead in a ditch. He had suffered several gunshot wounds, and Onslow County EMS confirmed that he was deceased at the scene.

As officials investigated, compiling evidence and witness accounts, they found that Alameen Hamm and Michael Holmes were primary suspects.

Hamm was arrested after being pursued by detectives on May 28. Holmes was arrested in High Point by the United States Marshals Service on Aug. 2.

“These arrests mark a crucial step in bringing closure to a senseless act of violence. We want the community to know that our priority is public safety and investigations of this nature require a thorough, methodical approach. We hope these arrests bring some satisfaction to the victim’s family as we move forward with the pending court procedures,” said Sheriff Chris Thomas.
