GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — On Friday, a fatal crash occurred in Pitt County.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a fatal collision involving three collisions on NC 43 at the intersection of NC 102. 17-year-old Benjamin Davidson of Chocowinity was traveling west on NC 102 in a 2002 Ford Truck and stopped for a stop sign.

He then attempted to go across NC 43 but collided with a 1998 Toyota Camry that was traveling south driven by Amilcar Lopez Hernandez of Greenville. After the collision, Davidsons truck continued across NC 43 and collided into another Toyota Camry driven by 74-year-old Stephen McCoy of Washington. McCoy was stopped at the intersection at the time of the accident.

Hernandez was killed at the scene. McCoy and Davidson were transported to ECU Health with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Davidson was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, unlawful window tint and failure to wear a seatbelt.
