EMERALD ISLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Tropical Storm Helene flooded residential areas and streets in Emerald Isle. Flood water is being pumped on the ocean-side and sound-side of Emerald Isle to make it easier for emergency vehicles to access the flooded areas if needed.

Now a precautionary swimming advisory is in place as the water is being pumped into the ocean.

According to the Carteret County Government , “State recreational water quality officials… advised beachgoers to be aware.”

Indian Beach experienced flooding as well. The Indian Beach Police department shared that their driving access is closed today and will reopen at a later date.
