UPDATE (1 P.M.) (WNCT) — The delivery company’s clean-up crew has safely transported the mixed chemicals to a secured travel container for offsite safe disposal.

Beaufort County’s Plymouth Street Booster Station has been released for normal operations and all responders are in the process of clearing the area now.

All previously evacuated businesses are now in the process of reopening.

UPDATE 11:30 (WNCT) — Around 8 a.m., liquid Ammonia sulfate was accidentally combined with sodium hypochlorite as a vendor attempted to complete a delivery. The driver was attempting to re-stock the liquid ammonia sulfate. 911 was notified as the mixture quickly produced a gas.

EMS transported the driver for evaluation. The mixture is now contained and no longer producing any gas.

Washington Fire Rescue, Washington Police Department, Beaufort County Emergency Services, Emergency Management and HRRT of Williamston worked to take care of this incident.

There is no threat to the water supply in Beaufort County. The county-provided drinking water was not impacted either.

Officials are still asking that people stay away from the Third and Fourth Street areas of Plymouth Street.

Beaufort County plans to update the community again at 12:30.

UPDATE (WNCT) — The hazmat regional response team out of Williamston is on scene assessing the situation and taking readings.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — Emergency management officials in Beaufort County are asking people to avoid, “Fifth Street, from Third Street to Carolina Ave.” A water treatment facility in the area has caused the evacuation of homes and businesses nearby.
