UNION COUNTY, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A man’s pockets in Union County are a bit deeper today after a big lottery win, the North Carolina Lottery Commission announced on Monday.

Indian Trail resident Thomas Kemp claimed his prize last Thursday and will take home $78,653 after taxes. “I’m still shaking,” Kemp said. “It was an exciting moment.”

The $1 Cash 5 ticket was bought at the BP on Idlewild Road. “I woke up my wife screaming, ‘Get up, we won,’” Kemp laughed. “I probably woke the neighbors too.”

Kemp plans on paying some bills, giving money to his children, and maybe taking a trip out to the West Coast.
