67-year-old North Carolina woman killed during crash on I-81S in Botetourt County

BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – Virginia State Police are reporting a crash in Botetourt County has killed a North Carolina woman and injured two others on September 20.

VSP says around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, 75-year-old Dickie Donald Hall of Hickory, NC was driving with a passenger in a 2018 Honda CR-V on I-81S near mile marker 160.7. Hall went off the left side of the road, crossed into the northbound lane, and was hit by a 2000 Jeep Cherokee.

Hall was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries received in the crash. Police say he was wearing his seatbelt.

67-year-old passenger, Debra Powell Hall of Hickory, NC was pronounced dead at the scene. She was also wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the Jeep was a 19-year-old man and was taken to the hospital for treatment. There is no information on his current condition. Police say he was wearing his seatbelt.

VSP says the investigation is ongoing and that Hall has been charged with Reckless Driving.
