GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — The Coastal Carolina Regional Airport has been experiencing a boost in travelers recently.

Representatives said they saw a nearly 50 percent increase in travel to the airport. More than two million people visited Craven County just this summer alone.

Some top states people are traveling from are New York, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Florida. They said that this is because of more seats available on flights.

That includes two new nonstop Breeze Airways flights to Orlando and Hartford. Airport Director Andrew Shorter said it’s all supported by the terminal improvements they’ve been working on like new jet bridges, a gate, a carport and more.

“People are enjoying coming here and we just want to have the ability for whatever airline may decide to come here, that there’s a place for them, that they can come and bring people here and also people can travel from here.” Shorter said.

He said this month is slower but they’re anticipating a big increase for the holidays.
