KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Law enforcement officers with the Kinston Police Department arrested a suspect for allegedly setting a residence on fire.

On Wednesday night officers with the Kinston Police Department responded to reports about a structural fire on Caswell Street. There were no injuries or deaths. Officers spoke with witnesses and learned of a suspect.

Kinston resident, 52-year-old Dorne Maye, was a likely suspect as earlier that day Maye allegedly threatened to kill the residents. Maye had also broken windows at the residence.

Maye was found at the intersection of Carey Road and Vernon Avenue and was promptly detained. After an investigation, Maye was charged with three counts of attempted murder and first-degree arson. He is being held at the Lenoir County Jail.
