FARMVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Law enforcement officers with the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting in Farmville on Wednesday evening.

When deputies arrived they found 30-year-old Marston resident, Lakota Shan Locklear, dead from apparent bullet wounds. Red Springs resident, 26-year-old Timothy Chavis, was on the scene and identified as the suspect. Active warrants from Robeson County on charges of assault on a female and communicating threats were out for Chavis. These warrants were unrelated to this crime.

Chavis was arrested on the Robeson County warrants and taken to the Pitt County Detention Center. He was given a $5,000 secured bond.

The case is still under investigation.
