GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — At J.H. Rose, congratulations were in order Thursday for a member of the staff. Ms. Luisa Haynes has taught for 50 years, with 25 of those being at J.H. Rose High School.

Thursday, members of the SECU honored Haynes in front of her colleagues for all the work she’s done for the school. While the Rampants were thankful for the service she’s done over the years, Haynes is thankful for the family she’s been a part of the entire time.

“Rose has been there for 25 years. In the years I’ve been here, I lost my mom. I lost my dad. I lost my husband,” Haynes said. “But the Rose family has always been there and my students have always been there.”

Haynes teaches Spanish and is also involved in student organizations including student government.

Although this year marks a milestone that Haynes could wrap up her career with, she’s not done yet. Haynes said that she’ll retire when it isn’t fun anymore, which won’t be the case anytime soon.
