GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — A Greenville road will soon be improved.

Part of South Memorial Drive is set to get a new traffic pattern to improve safety. Starting September 30, crews will be out making improvements to the road between O’Hagan Place and 5th Street. Lanes will be closed, including inside lanes, for concrete islands to be placed to assist north and southbound traffic turning along South Memorial Drive.

The project is estimated to take about a month to complete. Once work is done drivers will not be able to turn left in this section of the road. Instead, they will have to make a U-turn at the traffic lights. NCDOT reported that they decided to approve this project because of several car crashes that took place at this location.
