GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Weather conditions from Hurricane Helene impacted several flights across Eastern North Carolina today.

Flights from Coastal Carolina Regional Airport and Pitt Greenville Airport were delayed earlier Friday with some travelers sitting in the terminal just waiting. Experts said not too many issues have occurred as far as the tarmac, the issues are stemming from flights coming from the Western part of the state.

They said connecting flights in Charlotte have been delayed both for arrivals and departures throughout the day, especially as the storm moved over that part of the state.

“We’re just playing the waiting game right now. The rain is really impacting the Western part of our state, so we’re having trouble with both arrivals and departures, just everything,” Pitt Greenville Airport Executive Director Bill Hopper said.

Hopper also said that for anyone whose flight was fully cancelled, they will have to check with their airline for ticket exchanges or refunds. A couple of flights that were scheduled to leave earlier and in the afternoon on Friday are still in delayed status as of now.
