City of New Bern and NCHART deploy to Western NC, rescue approximately 40 people

NEW BERN, N.C. (WNCT) — The City of New Bern Fire and Rescue has made contact with those in Western North Carolina that need help.

According to a statement on their Facebook page, citizens in that part of the state are doing well despite devastating conditions and that they are putting in hard work around the clock to rescue and evacuate storm victims.

Cell service is spotty as of now until they return to the Emergency Operations Center. Their NC Task Force 10 Team is currently in Chimney Rock and will likely spend a few days there.

Their helo team NCHART deployed Saturday and flew missions most of the day where they rescued approximately 40 people.
