KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Members of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office took to the road to deliver supplies and donations to the Western part of the state.

Sheriff Jackie Rogers and four deputies are preparing for the journey and he said it’s more than just delivering supplies, it’s a testament to serving others.

“I put out an immediate request saying that anybody interested in donating that can go to the Western part of the state that I would deliver it for them, and we did, and people showed up last night and this morning,” Sheriff Rogers said. “I asked for volunteers and almost the entire office volunteered to go.”

In addition to law enforcement support, donations from the communities in the county were collected also.

“Those men and women have come together several times because of the flood over the past two years and it’s time to give back,” Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office Captain of Investigations Michael Williams said.

Sheriff Rogers said this is them returning the favor. “Madison County Sheriff’s Office lost a deputy during the storm, so we hope to support the sheriff there, and the staff there,” Sheriff Rogers said.
