BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) — A ribbon cutting took place for a new inn in a historic building in Beaufort Wednesday.

The building where the Bunk House now sits was originally built in 1914 and has seen a lot of changes. Now, it is ready to welcome vacationers to the property.

“My boss Sammy Ballew and Phil Lewis is his partner and they bought this property two years ago, they were going back and forth on whether to tear it down and luckily Carteret County Historic Commission came and said that the building needs to be reserved the best it can, so we turned it into an investment and now we can keep a historic piece of Beaufort to let people come check it out,” Shawn Millsap said.

Shawn and Meg Millsap are the new hosts of the Bunk House. “We opened up at the beginning of June and we just hit our 200th guest, so it has been really fun to meet people coming into town and it has been a really cool process at the beginning at the Bunk House,” Meg Millsap said.
