GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — WNCT 9 On Your Side’s parent company, Nexstar Media Group, approved a grant to be given out to Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina.

The Nexstar Charitable Foundation provides donations to Nexstar markets across the nation for places in need. Vice President and General Manager of WNCT, Amy Doane, worked with Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina to submit a grant to the foundation.

“This grant from Nexstar, WNCT, is going to enable over 300 mammograms for people who live in rural communities who do not have transportation and therefore, they’re not getting their annual mammograms,” Executive Director of Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina Lynn Pischke said. “So, we are going to provide the transportation to them. We’re doing 24 trips in the next 12 months, and we’re just super excited about it. I can’t even begin to think about the lives that are going to be impacted because of this.”

“WNCT 9 On Your Side has been part of the Eastern North Carolina community for over 70 years and we take every opportunity we can to give back to the community,” Doane said.

Cancer Services of Eastern North Carolina invites the public out Sunday to a pink ribbon run behind the Hilton Inn in Greenville.
