Mooresville Police officer arrested, accused of utilizing government database for personal reasons: Court docs

MOORESVILLE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A Mooresville Police officer has been arrested and charged with Resist, Delay, and Obstruct; and Accessing Computers, according to the Mooresville Police Department.

On Tuesday, October 15, MPD Officer David Stephen Brashear, 45, of Mount Holly, was arrested on both misdemeanor charges.

Police say the investigation was prompted by alleged misconduct “involving a woman following an encounter at a local establishment.” Officer Brashear reportedly misused government-issued devices and databases.

According to court documents, Officer Brashear’s encounter involved him approaching a man, but documents do not say why. Brashear is accused of then deleting information from a government-issued cell phone and using non-public resources to look up a woman for personal reasons.

Since his arrest, the officer has posted his $10,000 bond. He is set to appear in court on November 22.

Brashear was one of three officers sworn in at a Mooresville Board of Commissioners meeting on November 20, 2023.
