JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Tomorrow is the first day for early voting!

Onslow County has five early voting sites. One is right at the Board of Elections office in Jacksonville. In Onslow County, the sites are open from eight and close at seven-thirty on weekdays and three on Saturdays. None of the polls are open on Sunday.

If you didn’t register to vote, you’ll be asked for a photo ID and a piece of mail like a utility bill that can prove your address. If you don’t have a photo ID you can get a free one at the DMV. You can also get a free voter ID at the Board of Elections. Onslow Board of Elections Director Jason Dedmond said that there could possibly be longer wait times tomorrow since it’s the first day. He also urges people to be patient.

“The people that are helping you, they’re democracy heroes. They’re your neighbors, your church goers, people you work with. They live in your communities, right? They do this once a year on odd years, twice a year on even years. So no one’s perfect. But if we make mistakes, we can fix them and everyone makes mistakes, right?” said Dedmond.

The last day for early voting is November 2.
