Kinston adding roundabout to busy intersection

KINSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — Changes are coming to a busy intersection in Kinston. The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced the Wyse Fork and U.S. 70 intersection has been a concern for drivers for a while now.

There has been 15 injury crashes there and they’re trying to prevent more from happening. They plan on adding a U-turn to make turning safer and minimize conflict points. With this, NCDOT officials said they expect to see a 63 percent reduction.

“It’s a really quick and drastic way to just cut down on our crashes and can be funded really easily without a lot of delays and it will definitely keep the traffic on U.S. 70 flowing better,” NCDOT Spokesman Andrew Barksdale said.

Construction on the roundabout is expected to start next Spring.
