1 still missing after 4 juveniles escape Rocky Mount youth development center, police say

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCN) — The Rocky Mount Police Department has found three of the four juveniles who escaped from the Edgecombe Youth Development Center on Thursday night.

According to Rocky Mount police, officers were notified about the juveniles escaping from the center at 78 Positive Way at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Rocky Mount police and deputies with the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office said they have been in the area for hours actively searching for the juveniles.

Early Friday morning, Rocky Mount police said three of the four juveniles were located at midnight near the youth development center. All three have been returned to secure custody, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety.

Police said the remaining juvenile was last seen wearing a standard khaki pants uniform, a green polo-style shirt, a gray sweater and black shoes. Anyone who sees the juvenile matching this description is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
