    Alexandria man dies from severe burns, investigation ongoing

    ALEXANDRIA, La. ( WNTZ ) — On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Alexandria Police responded to a distress call on Lee Street near the I-49 bridge, where a man was found severely burned. The individual, identified as 45-year-old Joshua Williams, was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

    Due to the critical nature of his injuries, Williams was later transferred to Our Lady of the Lourdes Burn Unit in Lafayette, La. Tragically, despite intensive medical efforts, Williams succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, October 17, 2024.

    Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the incident, and an investigation is currently underway. The Alexandria Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding this case to contact the Detective Division at (318) 441-6416 or APD Dispatch at (318) 441-6559.
