UNION PARISH ( KTVE/KARD ) — On Monday, October 28, 2024, retired Louisiana State Trooper Kory York reportedly pleaded no contest to approximately 8 counts of Simple Battery after the 2019 deadly arrest of Ronald Greene. York’s plea occurred in the Third Judicial Court in Farmerville, La.

According to reports, York was sentenced to one year of supervised probation and approximately 160 hours of community service. According to the Ruston Daily Leader , the family of Ronald Greene was reportedly outraged as protests occurred outside of the courthouse after the hearing.

On May 10, 2019, Greene was pronounced deceased after being arrested for leading state police on a high-speed chase to Union Parish, which began in Ouachita Parish. During the investigation, Troopers’ body camera footage appeared to show officers assaulting and pepper spraying Greene after he was subdued until he became unresponsive. The footage was released nearly two years after the fatal incident.

York was initially indicted with Negligent Homicide; however, the charge was dropped in September 2024.

Unless you are willing to do this job there is no way to say what you would or would not do. Truth is many people take advantage and kill each other daily, but want to caste the first stone. Only one should be judging this man.
