Ty’Sheeks, whose real name was Tasheka Young, was Armstrong’s ex-girlfriend. She was a popular DJ on Power 106.1.

Young was pregnant when Armstrong shot and killed her inside her apartment in July 2022.

Young’s mother Olivia Young found her daughter’s body 12 hours later, surrounded by the DJ’s two toddlers.

Prior to Armstrong’s sentencing, Olivia Young talked in court on Thursday about now raising Young’s two children as her own. She was interrupted several times by Armstrong.

Olivia Young: “Through the love and grace of God -- "

Armstrong: “You are full of it.” (inaudible)

Olivia Young: “I am ... also thankful, to have a love and support of family ... my church members and my neighbors.”

Armstrong: “There’s no love in you.”

Judge Salvador: “Excuse me, we’re going to do this in order, I don’t want to hear anything from the gallery.”

Olivia Young: “To God be the glory.”

Armstrong: “There’s no love in you.”

Action News Jax’s Ben Ryan spoke with Olivia Young after court.

“When you’re guilty, you’ll say anything, you have no compassion. He never said I’m sorry and his children watched it happened and told me ‘Mema, Daddy killed Mommy.’ He watched it. The baby boy watched it,” she said.

Armstrong has a mandatory minimum life sentence and will receive credit for the 761 days he’s served.
