“We sent a group of 11 searchers into the area last night and searched until after midnight but we were unable to locate him,” the organization said. “This is a very rugged off trail area to search and visibility was compromised by darkness and fog.”

The team shared on Wednesday night that 25 people and two canines continued their efforts.

“A new lead today identified Scott being in the woods off the Tower Rock Trail on July 6th,” the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team said. “His last communication with his family was July 5th. The previously reported last-seen date of July 13th was not accurate and is being revised to July 6th at both the Jump Rock parking area and Tower Rock Trail. We believe his vehicle has not moved from its current location since July 6th.”
