There is simply nothing as nostalgic as cozying up to watch a classic movie. From starlets like Katharine Hepburn or Audrey Hepburn to heartthrobs like Clark Gable and Humphrey Bogart, these flicks are the perfect watch.
Outstanding in their time — and many of them Academy Award winners — they remain beloved even today, their legacy handed down from one generation to the next.

1. The Wizard of Oz
“There’s no place like home!” And there is definitely no movie like The Wizard of Oz , the 1939 classic. Starring Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale, it remains one of the most highly regarded films of the 1900s, enhanced by its use of color, a technique which was very new at the time of its release.
The story follows Dorothy and her dog, Toto, who are transported to a magical land after a tornado rips through her Kansas home. Following the yellow brick road in hope of finding a way to return to her loved ones, Dorothy meets three friends along the way: Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion.
“We’ll always have Paris” and the same is true of Casablanca . Starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, this 1943 film is a classic for a reason. Rick Blaine finds out his former lover, Ilsa, is back in town with her husband. But when she asks Rick for help, he finds that he may be falling for her again.

3. Gone with the Wind
Starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable , Gone with the Wind was an instant classic. Southern Belle Scarlet O’Hara lives a sheltered, but well-off life, yet finds herself falling in love with two men while living through the tragic Civil War history of the South.

4. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
The Oscar-winning Breakfast at Tiffany’s is an Audrey Hepburn favorite. The film follows a young New York socialite, Holly Golightly, searching for an older, wealthier man to marry. But when she becomes intrigued with a man who moves into her building, Paul Varjak, her past threatens to get in the way.

5. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes stars Marilyn Monroe as Lorelei Lee, a showgirl who is engaged to be married to a wealthy man, much to the chagrin of his father, who believes she is only after his money. When Lorelei and her friend, Dorothy Shaw ( Jane Russell ), travel to Paris, they’re followed by a detective determined to uncover the truth of what they’re after.

6. Singin’ in the Rain
As silent films are transitioning to “talkies,” or movies with sounds, Don ( Gene Kelly ) and his screen partner are struggling. When it turns out that only Don has the voice to fill a role in a musical, he meets Kathy ( Debbie Reynolds ), who is hired to record the voice of the female lead.
Katharine Hepburn stars in The Philadelphia Story as socialite Tracy Lord, who has split from her husband. As she prepares to remarry, Tracy meets a tabloid reporter ( James Stewart ), who she begins to fall for. She then must decide how she feels about each of the men, choosing the one she wants to be with the most.
Another Oscar-winning film starring Audrey Hepburn, Sabrina is about a young woman (Hepburn as Sabrina Fairchild) returning home from Paris and catching the eye of David Larrabee ( William Holden ), playboy and son of her father’s employer who she has always been in love with. David eventually finds himself drawn to her, but his older, more serious brother, Linus (Humphrey Bogart), is depending on him to marry an heiress to help their family business.
