Chick-fil-A Is Making the Jump to Streaming — Find Out What Type of Content to Expect on the New Platform

If you already thought there were a few too many options of streaming services to choose from, think again. Your favorite restaurant chain, Chick-fil-A, has just announced they will be launching their own  streaming service, giving Netflix, Apple TV and Hulu a new competitor.

The fast-food company is jumping ship to the entertainment world with hopes of producing family-friendly content, such as a gameshow, which is in talks to be created with Glassman Media, the company behind NBC’s The Wall and Sugar 23 of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why . They have been working with Hollywood production companies, as well as major studios, to push out their own kind of content. The budget for each unscripted half-hour is supposedly $400,000, according to inside sources.

What type of content can users expect to see on the new Chick-fil-A streaming platform?

While there are already dozens of streaming platforms producing all different types of content, you can expect the Chick-fil-A streaming service to put out mostly unscripted original shows. While the family gameshow – which will put out 10 episodes –  is the only known project at the time, users can also expect to see a few scripted series as well as some animated shows.

This could be good news for the realm of reality TV, however, which has taken a nosedive recently. It’s unknown if the platform will produce its own reality show about the company, but it isn’t out of the question.

Users have been leaving comments like, “ We need to go back to cable TV ,” and, “ Chick Fil A having a streaming service is weird and seems like something that won't last unless the quality is 1000%.”

One user even wrote the sarcastic comment that he was just saying how the chicken company needed its own streaming service while one suggested the platform will be called " Flick-fil-A " .

Although many people are confused about the chicken company beginning to produce their own shows, it wouldn’t be the first time a non-entertainment company entered the sphere. Companies like Lyft and Airbnb have produced their own television shows, available for streaming.

What are Chick-fil-A’s plans for the streaming platform?

While the company has not actually made any comments about the streaming news, Axios dug up a job posting from late last year, searching for an entertainment producer. This listing gives a bit of insight into Chick-fil-A’s plans for the platform.

The listing notes, “ We are looking to produce original entertainment — entertainment not necessarily about Chick-fil-A products or the Chick-fil-A brand.”

The job posting also explains, “ This original programming is intended for Chick-fil-A’s soon-to-be launched PLAY entertainment app and may include scripted podcasts and audio adventures, original animation, reality and game shows, and other live-action scripted or non-scripted programming.”

Chick-fil-A has, however, previously produced content for its website, including a series of short animated films called Stories of Evergreen Hills . The chicken company also created children’s games and puzzles under its pennycake brand.

When to expect the new Chick-fil-A streaming service

Although the announcement is not yet official from Chick-fil-A, the launch is planned for some time later this year. So, get ready to eat — and watch — from your favorite restaurant chain because it is sooner than you think.
