All the must-know details on the ‘Counting Miracles' movie
Initially announced by Variety , the film is set to be adapted by Amazon MGM Studios.
“O ne of the questions I get asked the most is which one of my books will be adapted to film, so I am excited to share that # CountingMiracles has been added to that list,” author Nicholas Sparks wrote on Instagram. “Alongside @AmazonMGMStudios, we’re again working with Denise @Dinovi, an exceptionally talented producer who also helped us bring # TheBestofMe , # TheLuckyOne , # NightsinRodanthe , # AWalktoRemember , and # MessageinaBottle to life.”
Along with the news that the film was being adapted, they also took the time to announce who would be taking on the lead role.
Wrote Sparks: “The film will star #AlanRitchson, and as a big fan of his work on # REACHER , I think he will be perfect in the role of Tanner!”
Ritchson also took to Instagram to share just how much being cast in the film means to him.
“My fiancée at the time, @catritchson (now wife), would take a break from working on her degree at @uflorida every few weeks to pay a visit [in L.A.],” The actor wrote. “During one of her stays, she wanted to watch The Notebook . So we made a night of renting the DVD and grabbing some snacks. A night in for a chick flick. I thought I was doing her a favor. Brownie points galore. Long story short, she fell asleep way before the end. I did not. I was crying so hard, for so long, at that perfect depiction of long, troubled, but unwavering love that even the DVD screensaver that bounced around the screen after the end credits to keep images from burning in the TV had finished.”
“The yearning I experienced for the first time that night for a Notebook kind of enduring love has been a compass I return to when I get distracted or lose my way (as we all do from time to time). It also cemented for me how truly valuable the medium of TV and Film can be when done right.”
The actor finished the post by writing, “Now, to be here 20 years later working alongside legends like @nicholassparks @amazonmgmstudios @dinovi and my partners @dsmanager and @wme is simply surreal. I hope we create an ache for a transcendent kind of love with Counting Miracles the way The Notebook did for me eons ago.”
The Counting Miracles movie doesn't yet have a release date.
What is ‘Counting Miracles’ about?
Published in September 2024, the plot follows Army vet Tanner Hughes after he travels to Asheboro, North Carolina, to try and find his long-lost father. Along the way, though, Tanner meets single mother Kaitlyn Cooper and falls for her instantly. Elsewhere, the town's resident old man, Jasper, lives alone, haunted by his past. Soon, all three characters' fates intertwine, and what follows are revelations none of them saw coming.
“ Counting Miracles is about love and faith, but it’s also about how one handles grief ,” Sparks exclusively told Woman’s World at the time of the book's publication. “Tanner has lost many friends and he responds by racing through life looking for a place to call home. Jasper knows exactly where home is and decides to withdraw from it almost entirely. It’s a contrast in stories of grief. Then there’s Kaitlyn. I loved her confidence and strength. She’s a doctor, she’s a good mom, she volunteers, but she still wonders, ‘Is this all there is’? ”
The book debuted at #1 on The New York Times Best-Seller list and has remained there ever since its publication.
