Walking around the campus of the University of Wisconsin this summer, Emma Venusio and Caroline Harvey were never far apart. Harvey, a Wisconsin Badgers veteran was paired up with Venusio, an incoming rookie to help her learn the ropes at the school before the puck drops this Fall.

"It's been awesome this summer," said Harvey of getting to know Venusio. "She's a great player, she wants to learn, she's obviously quite the player coming in and just to see where she's going to go with it, we're excited to have her on our team."

Venusio captained the Etobicoke Dolphins this season scoring 32 goals and 56 points in 40 games from the blueline. She also added nine points in six games as the captain of Team Canada at the U-18 national championships. In game two of the development series, she scored for Canada at another level.

Harvey, who is one of the best players in the world, already being named a World Championship All-Star three times, and being named a First Team All-American last season with Wisconsin , was impressed with Venusio's play in the series and will be happy to have her as a teammate rather than an opponent soon.

"Playing against her was no fun, definitely," Harvey said. "She's very smart, very skilled. She's going to fit in very well at Wisconsin. I'm going to be glad to be back on her side, on her team very soon. It was fun playing against her, but I'm glad it's over because she's a tough player to play against."

Venusio echoed the sentiment. She spent the week with Canada defending several future Wisconsin teammates in Harvey, Lacey Eden, Kirsten Simms, Cassie Hall, Laila Edwards, Laney Potter, and Vivien Jungels.

"I mean it's great to play against everybody, they're all awesome people, they're amazing players. I would like to play with them rather than against them," she said.

With so much talent on Wisconsin, which also includes Sarah Wozniewicz and Ava Murphy who were members of Canada's national development team, Venusio hopes to take her game to another level this year in the NCAA.

"Obviously the girls are better and faster, so I feel like I'll be able to continue to grow my game."
